You wonder who writes all these stories about media, marketing and online advertising. I’m Alex Mihăileanu, a 25 years old Romanian guy, with a strong passion for media, marketing and advertising. I got my first job as a reporter when I was 19, I worked a couple of years for a daily newspaper somewhere far from the capital of the country and I’m grateful to my ex-colleagues for teaching me all I know about news reporting and printed media. Outside the capital is the perfect place to actually become a good reporter.

Short bio

At 21, I moved to Bucharest, where I got my second job, my third and so on. I worked for newspapers like Ziua (investigation newspaper) and Business Standard (daily financial newspaper) and now I’m a freelancer and associate reporter at Hotnews.ro, Romania’s biggest independent news source and the second most visited news website in the country.

Meanwhile, I learned a lot about advertising and marketing, with a great focus on the online local market, which was enough to make me curious in finding out more. I’m an online marketing fan and a content marketing enthusiast. I enjoy copywriting stuff, as long as it’s not boring.

What do I do?

Being a multi-tasking kind of guy, I discovered WordPress and the wonderful world of easy programming and customization. I already had a few contacts with design, so I started to put my talents into practice. From news reporting, after quitting newspapers, I went freelance. I still have the time to write on my Romanian blog, subiectiv.ro, to work for the companies I have contracts with and, last but not least, to design WordPress themes for my clients, as I am one of Europe’s WordPress consultants.

I worked project-based for different companies, such as Leo Burnett & Target or LG (copywriting), Ringier (as a consultant for one of their product’s online presence) etc. I offer consultancy for publishing projects, on usability, online strategy and product web design.
