The Internet in Jan 1994, as seen on NBC. Do you remember how you “met” the Internet?

Once upon a time, the Internet was an international network connecting universities. Then, it was used to connect other institutions. Finally, it hit homes and everything changed. I found this January 1994 recording from NBC’s Today Show over at Swiss Miss and it suddenly striked me: do you ... Read more

OMG, they killed Google!

OMG, they killed Google!

My God, Facebook is great! I never understood exactly why, but it seems the social network has become the new Google-killer and, here they come, the horsemen of internet giant’s fall, hitting with their opinions. Now, why would they think that? I’m not a Facebook heavy user, but ... Read more

Steve Jobs: "Apple means integrated products". So what's Google been doing for the last years?

Steve Jobs: “Apple means integrated products”. So what’s Google been doing for the last years?

I was reading this FastCompany article, I just couldn’t miss the lack of integrity in Steve Jobs‘ words. I know, it’s ironic especially because of what he’s saying. Google’s Android is, indeed, a pain in Apple‘s back. Despite their new operating system, iOS still lacks at multitasking. Android ... Read more

Google TV is now official. How is it going to change the world?

Google TV is now official. How is it going to change the world?

There’s been a long talk on how Google will enter the TV market. There have been lots of people imagining new concepts on Google TV, there have been lots of news about who will produce the TV sets and the set-boxes. Now, it’s official. So what markets will ... Read more

Facebook is overrated. And, by the way, search won't die

Facebook is overrated. And, by the way, search won’t die

I was reading this opinion on TechCrunch regarding the way Facebook is going to be bigger than Google in the next five years I just can’t agree with it. The author, Adam Rifkin, has a pretty good argumentation on why Facebook is going to be the leader of ... Read more

What's wrong with geolocation

What’s wrong with geolocation

One of the things I never could really understand was why people are so enthuziastic about geolocation. Yes, being enthuziastic is a good thing and it’s normal when you have a new toy to play with, but not when the toy has blades that might cut. If you ... Read more

Cool info: Blogoscoping Google’s revenues

Google Blogoscoped, one of the most famous blogs about Google, had this cool idea of making a list with all – I guess, though I’m not sure – the services Google has and, most important, that could bring real money to the company. It’s actually kind of strange that in period of crisis, everyone talk about other people’s money. But hey, it’s Google! ... Read more

A cool concept I’ve never heard of: GoogleTV

If you’ve seen Babylon A.D., then you might have seen Google’s product placement. In the South European country Vin Diesel lives, he watches the news using a live streaming news service provided by Google. It’s like Google has it’s own TV network. There are chances that it’s a one time presentation for this idea. I don’t know if Google had it or if it came from some guy working with the movie crew, but it’s absolutely brilliant. Let’s talk about this idea and let’s find out what are the chances to come true. ... Read more

What Google forgets about search

I’m quite a Google fan. I use GMail for e-mail, Google Reader for reading my favourite RSS feeds, I use Google Docs to open documents I receive in my Inbox, I use YouTube and, most of all, I use the search engine. Though many people would say MSN’s search results are more relevant, I believe in Google. Maybe I use it because I’m used to it, maybe not. It doesn’t matter. But I’d really need a few more things from Google’s search engine. ... Read more
